Would You Work Out In High Heels Like Victoria Beckham?
When we think of Victoria Beckham, we think of high, high heels (and the Spice Girls, sorry if you've been trying to ditch that rep Posh, but it is part of you forever!) Has this woman ever worn shoes that weren't heels? I am sure sneakers are an absolute foreign concept. Anyway, I remember a rather scary image of her carrying her baby daughter around in extremely high heels and being scared for both of their lives.
But clearly she is a pro. In fact, today she was showing off her skills when she photographed a picture of herself walking in heels on her treadmill desk. She wrote on the Instagram photo, "Thank u @SusieCollege. Every office should have one of these, work out and work at the same time!! Genius!! X vb."
It turns out, though, that working out in heels (to an extent) can actually be good for you. In 2008, Dr. Maria Angela Cerruto, a urologist at the University of Verona, Italy, studied 66 stiletto-wearing women under the age of 50 and found that wearing heels actually has some major benefits. Clearly that's why pole dancing classes have become so popular in the last few years but if you aren't quite up for that just know that even walking in heels is a bit of a workout!
Here are some benefits to wearing high heels:
- It can help strengthen pelvic and abdominal muscles: As a result of wearing heels, the muscles that are countering the elevated heel get in better shape and allow you to have easier childbirths and more gratifying sex. Not too shabby!
- It strengthens your calves: Wearing heels regularly can result in calves that look longer and leaner which will make you look great in heels (and the cycle repeats!)
- It makes you feel confident: Heels literally can make women feel powerful!
Of course heels can also wear down your muscles over the years and there is always a chance you take a spill! That's why we recommend always having a pair of Solemates High Heelers ready to go to help you literally strut your stuff in any situation!
