Helping the Helpers: Samaritan's Purse

As a small business, we've been adversely affected by the global pandemic that is rocking the world right now.  As New Yorker's we've been struck by both fear and gratitude. It's scary not knowing what is safe, where is safe, and when it will be safe again.  But it's also comforting to know that we're surrounded by helpers.  The US Military has brought us hospital ships, volunteers from around the country have poured into our hospitals and Samaritan's Purse has set up a field hospital in our very own and beloved Central Park. 

If I had closed my eyes in February and woke up today, I do not think I would recognize this world. The empty city streets, the masked millions, the toilet paper memes do not feel real. It feels like a plot pulled from a post apocalyptic dystopian novel, not something that would too quickly become the new normal.

There have been days that I haven't wanted to open the paper (both for fear of touching it and for fear of reading it), days when I haven't even wanted to get out of bed and certainly not wanted to look at my phone or computer. But, we do. We get up and we move forward and find ways to adapt. We try to be creative with our business, set a responsible tone for our customers, and find ways that we as mere mortal civilian entrepreneurs can be helpful.  

Donating a portion of our proceeds is hard. It's painful. We need cash.  But, we need health and a healthy world before we need anything else.  And it's not just our money we are donating, it's your money. It is because of you that we can be generous. It is because of you that we can move forward. It is because of you that we can make a positive impact; however small or however large. We're grateful to you for giving us the ability to make this difference.
