From Startup to Success: CNBC Interviews Solemates High Heeler founders Becca and Monica
Not only a must have if you plan on wearing high heels at a wedding or any outdoor event, Solemates High Heelers have quickly become the favorite high heel accessory worn by celebrities during performances, events and every day life. Carrie Underwood, Viola David and Oprah Winfrey, just to name a few!
Solemates has announced that they have recently launched the brand in over 4000+ CVS stores nationwide, expanding the retail reach of their main product, the High Heeler, across the entire nation. Before the launch, their products could be found at David's Bridal and DSW stores, but now they are more accessible than ever.
The Solemates High Heeler is a heel protector that fits on the spiked tip of most high heels that increases the surface area of the tip to prevent it from sinking into the grass. Not only does the High Heeler prevent sinking, it also protects your heels from getting stained, scratched or dirty from being driven into the ground, lawn or gravel, or even getting stuck between cobblestone or boardwalk boards.
The product founders Monica Ferguson and Becca Brown developed the idea for a class project they were working on together while pursuing their master's degrees at Columbia Business School. They realized their idea was too good to not put into motion, and the women quit their jobs and founded Solemates, launching their flagship product in 2012.
In 2016 they appeared on ABC's Shark Tank scoring a deal with one of the Sharks that didn't materialize, however the publicity from the show helped them to land huge retail accounts and they are now available at CVS Pharmacies everywhere in the United States.
As the success of their brand continues to grow, Becca and Monica are confident they made the right decision to leave their jobs at Goldman Sachs to pursue their dream. They now have their sights set on other major retailers such as Target, Walmart, Sephora and Ulta Beauty Stores.
